Darlene Zschech was discovered as a child star for the TV series Happy Go Around and sang in commercials like McDonald’s, Kentucky Fried Chicken and Diet Coke. The song Shout to the Lord brought Darlene Zschech the international breakthrough in Christianity. In 2000 she received the Dove Award for Composer of the Year. In 2007 Phil Dooley took over from Darlene Zschech as head of the worship and creative arts departments and in 2008 Reuben Morgan took over her role as worship pastor at Hillsong. Darlene Zschech is still the musical director of all church events. She has written four books: Worship (1996), Extravagant Worship (2002), The Kiss of Heaven (2003) and The Great Generational Transition (2009).Hillsong’s For All You’ve Done, the first Christian CD to win first place in the Australian charts in July 2004, caused a sensation.
Darlene and her husband Mark Zschech have three children. Darlene was diagnosed with breast cancer on 11 December 2013.
