Here are 10 facts about Jesus you didn’t know yet

1 Jesus worked miracles.

He performed countless miracles, healing and helping, which could no longer be explained rationally. He could do this not out of his humanity (John 5:30-37), but out of the power of God, with whom he was completely one. As the Son of God, he is of divine descent and thus also God.

2 Jesus was the Son of God

Jesus always says very clearly in the Bible that he is the Son of God. Here are a few passages from the Bible. In Mark 1:11, God says publicly at Jesus’ baptism in the Jordan that Jesus is his beloved Son. At the transfiguration on the mountain God calls Jesus his Son again (Matthew 17,1 ff.).

3 Jesus had brothers and sisters

Jesus had brothers and sisters, which means Mary was not a virgin all her life. Some people and churches try to say this again and again. James, Joses (or Joseph), Judas and Simon are named by name. But Jesus was Mary’s first child.

4 Jesus was not born at Christmas

Jesus was probably born around the year 4 or 6 B.C. in Nazareth and grew up in a small village together with his brothers and sisters (only his brothers James, Joses, Judas and Simon are mentioned by name, his sisters are not named) and his parents, Joseph and Mary. His entire family was Jewish.

It is quite certain that Jesus, like his father, was a builder and worked in this profession for several years. His mother tongue was Aramaic, probably he also learned Greek and later Hebrew.

He could read and write, despite his probably short school education. Over the years he developed impressive language skills, for only in this way could he formulate his descriptive parables and meaningful sayings.

5 Jesus forgave sins.

And not just things that others had done to him personally. But in general the guilt of every person who showed repentance before God. His Jewish fellow citizens immediately understood that only God was entitled to this. (Mark 2:5ff).

6 Jesus has passion

Jesus chases the merchants out of the temple. He is upset that his father’s house has become a trading place. He knocks over tables and chases the merchants out of the temple.

Luke 19:45: When Jesus entered the temple courts, he began to drive out those who were selling. 46 “It is written,” he said to them, “ ‘My house will be a house of prayer’3; but you have made it ‘a den of Robbers.

7 Jesus was a Jew

It was only later that his followers were called Christians. When Jesus worked, he was a Jew. Later, however, the Jews said that Jesus was not the promised one, so the Jews split into two groups. The Jews and the Messianic Jews. Messianic Jews are the Jews who believe in Jesus as the Son of God.
